Time To Build A Treehouse

It's a good time to build a treehouse.

Last week I started building another treehouse. The last treehouse I built was several years ago at our old house in Pennsylvania, and I was impressed that, this time, the lumber seemed to be much cheaper even though we're building a more ambitious project.

It's not my imagination - lumber prices are historical lows.

Meanwhile Home Depot is gaining share.

HD just released their earnings, off 9%. But with the decline in the economy, does that mean more folks will be doing home improvement instead of building, thus increased demands? Or does HD supply new construction too, thus accounting for the drop in earnings, and the lowered demand and lower cost for lumber?

Nardelli has been gone for a while, so are you a buyer of HD?

Yes, I figure that home improvement should pick up before construction does, but not everybody agrees.

I don't know anything about this stuff beyond building my treehouse, so I'm not an HD buyer.
