Hanso Foundation

I'm a fan of the TV show Lost - I usually watch it on iTunes but tonight I happened to catch it live on ABC.

Here is something that I would not have gotten on iTunes. There was a strange commercial during the last commercial break, mixed between the regular commercials. It was about 15 seconds and advertised "The HANSO Foundation" - to learn more, call "1 877 HANSORG".

As any Lost fan knows, the fictional HANSO foundation plays a mysterious role in the show. Half the fun of the show is outside the TV show itself, on the internet, on the fan sites that dissect all the clues, and on the fictional websites planted by the show producers. (Try them all!) Now, the Lost alternate reality includes an international TV commercial and a toll-free number.

The Lost people really know how to play with the audience. I'll play along. But the phone company can't seem to complete the call to the 877 number - maybe the circuits are busy. I really want to know what's behind that phone number! Has anybody gotten through? Does it lead to this game?

"Press release" on the ad campaign here. See the commercial (with the phone number removed) under the "Television Ad" link here.

Instead of calling the number, I went to the site www.sublymonal.com. After clinking on "obey" and 6 TV monitors, a screen appeared with a monitor the would flash "code: heir apparent". There was a link below to hanso foundation website but I did not know where to use the code. I did not have time to search.

I got through, you go to the site www.sublymonal.com and you press on each of the screens the same combo 4;8;15;16;23;42. It gives you the code heir apparent. direcly underneath the coded message is a link to the hanso site. But on the phone line a womans voice breaks through and says she doesn't have much time, but the password is breaking strain. This password you enter on the hanso site, in the sign up for the news letter area. It's fun to try to find all the clues, I found alot on there. you put heir apparent on Dr. Thomas Mittlewerk's profile page. keep going from there to the alvar hanso bio. and click on the date. you also enter stuff into the send joop a message page and there is more there. it's pretty interesting. i am new to the show, so I don't get much of it. but it's pretty cool. have fun!

at 9:42 pm today OBEY flickered for about 3 minutes on the Hanso Site and click on obey and it takes you to the sublymonal.com site It freaked me out what you think this means?

If you paid really close attention during the commercial, there was a message in the bottom left hand corner that said "paid for by Sprite". So I'm assuming the "OBEY" on the sublymonal site has to do with the catch phrase of Sprite "obey your thirst". Kind of disappointing, I know.

Did you get the name of the website that came up in tonights show (May 17th)? I thought it was www.letyourcompassguideyou.com ...... however it doesn't seem to work.

Fellow Lost fans: find "An Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge" by Ambrose Bierce and read it. You won't be disappointed. The story was made into a short film in the early 60's and the new film version is due out within a month or so. I easily found the story on the internet.

I tried letyourcompassguideyou.com also and got nothing-but did you noticce in the corner of the screen on the commercial it said sponsored by Jeep.

I went to the site letyourcompassguideyou.com, and you have to move your mouse to about the south east position. A grid will pop up and there is a link in that spot. it takes you to the Hanso foundation

There's more on the site then just a link to the Hanso site.

If you know morris code you need to go here and take down the message. IT MEANS SOMTHING>>>

"you put heir apparent on Dr. Thomas Mittlewerk's profile page. keep going from there to the alvar hanso bio. and click on the date. "

Follow the dates and place where HAnso has been, then clock on the Darma Message..... Then wait, it gets wierd, but hold on because after 30 sec or so, a green dot appears with the morris code.

In an earlier post, I mentioned the short story "An Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge" by Ambrose Bierce. I did so because there is a connection beween that story and LOST. In fact, during John Locke's first visit to the 1st hatch at the beginning of the current season, it was the only title of all the books Locke went through that was discernable on the show. Find the story and read it. You'll love the ending.

Henry Gale was the hot air balloon pilot from Minnesota who crashed on the island. Judy Garland is from Minnesota and she played Dorothy Gale who had an uncle Henry in the Wizard of Oz. The wizard at the end of Oz left in a hot air balloon. The actor Charley Grapewin played Dorothy's Uncle Henry. Look at Mr. Grapewin's photo at http://www.ehistorybuff.com/grapewin.html
